The ICC has stopped a 2011 World Cup venue in India from hosting any international cricket until the end of this year after a match was abandoned last month due to a substandard pitch. A one-day international between India and Sri Lanka on December 27 was called off at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium due to a dangerous pitch, and the International Cricket Council said Thursday in a statement that it will oversee the work to make it playable.

ICC General Manager of Cricket David Richardson says that ``had the potential to inflict serious injury to the batsmen' but that it was the first time the pitch at the ground had been ``rated as unfit.' Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium is scheduled to host four World Cup matches.
